This Spanish Silver Cobb coin was hand crafted around the 1500s to 1700s. Much of the bullion from the New World was sent to Spain in the form of coinage referred to as Cobs, or Reales. Not long after Columbus discovered the New World, vast amounts of gold and silver were discovered in Mexico, Central and South America. Once turned into coins, Spanish fleets then transported the gold and silver coinage along a northern route through the Gulf of Mexico along the Florida coast for delivery to the King and Queen of Spain.
